A Level Choices - What GCSEs Will You Need?

Entry into the Sixth Form from Year 11 at King’s is dependent upon girls achieving a strong set of GCSE grades, with usually A grades or above in those subjects she wishes to study at A Level. The majority of girls will have B grades or above at GCSE. Occasionally, a student may obtain one grade C in a subject not related to her Sixth Form choices. This will not affect her acceptance on her A Level courses.

Any subject specific criteria or exceptions are outlined here. Please discuss any queries with the Head of Sixth Form, Head of Key Stage 4 or Deputy Head (Academic).

For external candidates, an equivalent qualification will, of course, be accepted if you do not study our GCSE/IGCSE subjects.

The 11-16 core curriculum at King’s High, encompassing English, Science, Mathematics and a modern foreign language, caters for all career and Higher Education choices. Girls who study our full GCSE curriculum have all the essential IGCSEs and GCSEs. External entrants to the Sixth Form should be able to demonstrate similar GCSE subjects and IGCSE equivalents. Some subjects require specific grades achieved at IGCSE (or equivalent) and GCSE. These, and any exceptions, are outlined in the table below. Please discuss any queries with the Deputy Head (Academic).
