Our Approach To Teaching and Learning
Whilst nothing will ever be more important than your daughter’s well-being and safety, an outstanding Teaching and Learning approach is essential for girls to fulfil their potential.

Teaching and Learning is at the heart of everything we do at King’s High School. We bring together the very best of tradition with modern theory to give your daughter the greatest possible chance of success. All lessons take place in an atmosphere designed to engender inclusivity, with girls sitting according to specific seating plans, and clear learning objectives for the lesson always given. Highly qualified and experienced teachers will help your daughter to learn and become increasingly independent in her learning as she moves through the school from year to year.  Regular assessment, both formal and informal, ensures that your daughter’s teachers always know her strengths and areas for development. Staff both lead and attend training regularly so that their knowledge and skills are kept up-to-date.  Senior staff drop in to lessons on a regular basis to monitor the quality of learning that takes place in the classroom and, most importantly, we have an ethos of peer observations where staff learn from each other. All departments are exceptionally well-resourced, which includes having the very latest in IT equipment to aid effective learning. The most able pupils are stretched and all girls are supported, whether in the classroom or, where necessary, through lunch time clubs.  Our aim is that all girls achieve as highly as possible whilst enjoying their lessons, enabling them to aspire to great things.  The ‘value-added’ that we achieve, and the tremendous success rate that we have in enabling girls to gain places at top universities and on competitive courses, speak for themselves.
