Our Pastoral Staffing

The importance we attach to the pastoral side of school life is reflected in the fact that since 2008 we have had two Deputy Head teachers, one dedicated to matters academic and the other, a new post, to matters pastoral.  They work very closely together.

Throughout her time at King’s your daughter’s overall welfare, well-being and academic progress will be monitored by a member of the Senior Management Team.  These three Heads of Key Stage (Key Stage 3 Years 7-9; Key Stage 4 Years 10 & 11; Key Stage 5 Years 12 & 13) are all experts both in the academic and the pastoral development of girls of the age group for which they have responsibility. Each of these Heads of Key Stage are supported by an assistant.  In order to support girls through the important transition from primary to secondary education we have a Head of Year 7 who is dedicated to their welfare and works closely with the Head of Key Stage 3.

Most full-time academic staff also act as form tutors; they meet their tutees morning and afternoon each day for registration and form time activities.  After Year 7, form tutors usually stay with their form group for two years, so they get to know the girls well.  They are always available to their girls for support and advice.

Our full-time school Matron plays a vital rôle in our pastoral life, caring for the girls, not only in a medical, but in an emotional capacity.
