Sixth Form

We are very proud of our broad curriculum and our girls' achievements at A Level. Our standard academic programme includes three A Levels, plus an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).  The EPQ is a very highly regarded qualification, greatly valued by universities and admissions tutors, and is worth half an A Level. Girls who choose to study Further Maths study four A Levels. Maths can also be taken at AS Level, which can be helpful in supporting a range of other subjects. In choosing A Levels, we advise you to consider workload; match subject choices with any career aspirations you have,  and if you are undecided about your career choice, think about which subjects will be the best at keeping your options open. One of the major advantages of Sixth@King's is that you have the time both to take new subjects, and study those subjects at which you excel, and enjoy the most.

As well as their A Levels, Sixth@King's girls have non-examined General Studies lessons, which cover a range of subjects, from student finance to current affairs. All girls in Year 12 take part in our Joint Activities Programme with Warwick School every Friday afternoon, along with Year 13 girls who do not have timetabled academic lessons. Recent Friday afternoon activities incude: Young Enterprise, Combined Cadet Force, Acapella, Engineering, Language for Business, Food Technology, Russian, Science in Action, Voluntary Service, Amnesty, Debating, Creative Writing, and Jazz Lab. In a few cases, our pupils are co-taught academic subjects with boys from Warwick School. Sixth Formers are encouraged to study extensively and independently outside the classroom and we have state-of-the-art learning and study spaces. Our newly refurbished Sixth Form Centre offers a dedicated Sixth Form Library, a comprehensive Careers Zone, and a range of private and collaborative study spaces. Our main school Library provides spaces for reading, research and collaboration, and the Innovation Centre provides space for innovative teaching and learning, and private study. A key aspect of life in Sixth@King's is the all-important decision regarding university and higher education courses.  Our Careers department has an enviable track record of successfully supporting students in applying to the whole range of universities and courses on offer and, most importantly, in matching students to the courses and institutions which are the most appropriate for their needs and aspirations.
