About the OGA Whether you are waiting for your ‘A’ level results or waiting for your telegram from the Queen, the King’s High School Old Girls’ Association is here for you! The OGA was founded in 1902, and continues to this day as voluntary organisation administered by, and for, old girls and former staff of the school. We currently have over 2,050 members. The committee is chaired by the President (our headmistress, Mrs. Elizabeth Surber), and administered by a secretary (Mrs. Polly Beidas) and treasurer (Miss Ruth Court) with a committee of about twelve others. We also have honorary Vice-Presidents, who need no introduction, and are Miss Leahy, Miss Greenwood, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Russell. Our staff representative is Mrs. Catharine Walker from the current PE staff.
Joining the OGA For a one-off payment of just £30 (or £36 to include an Ilex) you can become a Life Member of the Old Girls’ Association. Founded in 1902, the OGA is run by a voluntary committee of KHS old girls FOR old girls of the school. We hold regular events and publish an Annual Notice (last year’s ran to over twenty pages) of old girls’ news and information. We also foster friendships, and help to organise reunions. These can be of two friends who have lost touch, or much large gatherings of over 100 people. We also hold an annual AGM and Lunch at school, often with guest speakers. To join, click here to download the attached membership form or write to the OGA Secretary, Mrs. Polly Beidas, via the school or at secoga@sky.com. Ilex What are you doing now? Are you on a Gap year or studying at university. Have you just started work, or establishing yourself in a career? Have you recently got married or become a mother? Are you living on a remote Pacific island, or just round the corner in Warwick? Are you enjoying retirement and/or your grandchildren? Or are you doing none of these things? Whichever it is, whether you’re waiting for ‘A’ level results or your telegram from the Queen, we would love to hear from you. Even if you have had the same job / hobby / husband for the past twenty years, and your news doesn’t seem interesting to you, it may well be fascinating to the schoolfellows you haven’t seen since the school bus chugged out of Smith Street all those years ago? Please let the OGA Secretary (Mrs. Polly Beidas) know on secoga@sky.com or via the school. The Ilex magazine is now A4-sized, in colour and full of illustrations. It is published in the Autumn Term of every school year. To order your new Ilex for £6, please click here to download the form. |
