1940s & 1950s Double Decade Day (and before) Do you remember the Teddy boys with their skinny ties and narrow, tight trousers worn short enough to show off garish socks? Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell was published, the microwave oven was invented and some of the most notable crooners included Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. Sir Winston Churchill was Prime Minster, the first plastic Coke bottle appeared in the 1950s, Elvis Presley became the leading figure of the newly popular sound of rock and roll and winklepickers, beehives and pony tails became fashionable.
Missing Old Girls Can you help us trace missing alumnae? We are planning a Double Decade Day in June 2012 for Old Girls who were at school in the 1940s and 50s and even earlier.
OGA Annual Alumnae Lunch The OGA Annual Alumnae Lunch will take place on Saturday 10 March 2012 at The King’s High School for Girls, Smith Street, Warwick.
