Interim Inspection Report, May 2011 “Outstanding” is the word that leaps from every page of the interim ISI Report following a highly successful interim inspection of King’s High. Judging the pupils’ overall achievement and personal development to be “excellent” and “outstanding”, the Inspectors went on to rate the curriculum, the governance and the leadership of the school all as “excellent” and the behaviour of the girls as “exemplary.” Progress from Year 7 through to the Sixth Form was described in the report as “exceptional.” Inspectors commented on the recent outstanding academic success of the school, noting the examination success at A level was “above the national average for girls in maintained and maintained selective schools.” “This is a wonderful report that reflects the ethos, success and achievements of our school,” said Mrs Surber. “ The overall quality of our education, the achievements of our girls and the dedication of our staff have all been recognised and have received the highest possible accolade.” To download a copy of the Inspection Report please click here. Following three days of rigorous inspection of every aspect of the school, from its teaching and administration to its facilities, the Inspectors, who visit all registered independent schools every six years, unreservedly recorded the success of the school in meeting its aim: “The curricular and extra-curricular opportunities provide breadth, challenge and enjoyment and are fully in line with the school’s declared aim ‘to prepare each girl with a fulfilling adult life as a woman in the twenty-first century’.”
The Inspectors found that the girls are “hardworking, happy and clearly enjoy their work and activities”. They judged them “able to apply knowledge, skill and understanding pertinently to think and act critically and creatively”. The quality of teaching is said to be “often outstanding”, and the quality of pastoral care “outstanding at all levels”. They concluded that “King’s High is a caring and happy school, where pupils feel valued”.
