Welcome to the Great British Schools Equestrian League
The league was set up by teachers at King’s High, Warwick to raise the profile of equestrianism in schools without giving the teacher in charge too much extra work. In fact, registration to this league will simply require a teacher to upkeep a notice board. With regular shows at top local venues, every registered pupil in the county will have the opportunity to represent their school with their horse or pony in dressage or jumping.
Sponsored by Country Channel TV and backed by the British Equestrian Federation, registration is only £5 per individual! This one off payment will entitle you to a reduced entry fee into GBSEL classes of only £5 per class. Entry into this year’s league will be by October 30th and will be for pupils attending primary and secondary schools, both state and independent. Entries sent in after this date will be accepted but the registration charge will increase to £5.50 per person per league to cover administration costs. This year there are leagues in Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Tri-counties area (Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire). As this is an individual league competition, you do not have to have a team of four to compete; you can have one or as many pupils that wish to enter from your school in the league. If you require further information please e.mail Mrs Burgham on gbselinfo@aol.com GBSEL - Warwickshire Dressage Rider of the Year There will be a dressage and jumping event every month at either Weston Lawns or Solihull Riding Club Starting from October until April. As many pupils from your school can register with the GBSEL so tell your friends, but if you are the only one in your school that does not matter. Prizes will lead to points and the individual with the most points will become the Warwickshire Schools Equestrian League Dressage Rider of the Year! The top 10 junior and senior dressage riders will be invited to compete against the top 10 in the other counties in the National final which will be televised on the Country Channel.
