Facilities
Our school is situated in a beautiful, historic setting in the heart of
Class sizes
There are on average 16 girls in a class, with variations depending on the subject and year group.
The school day begins at 8.35am with registration, usually followed by a short assembly. There are six lessons in the morning and two in the afternoon, each 35 or 40 minutes long.
Before and after school care
The school is open from 8.00am. The dining room is open for breakfast and girls may use classroom facilities before registration. Girls may stay at school after lessons finish to take part in the numerous after-school activities and supervised study until 6.00pm. Tea is provided.
Catering
Girls have a choice of meat, vegetarian and pasta dishes, all served with fresh vegetables and/or salad. A selection of puddings is available, as well as fresh fruit. All meals are freshly prepared on the premises daily and care is taken to use good quality ingredients. A lunch committee comprising girls of all ages meets regularly to discuss and advise on school meals. Health
A fully qualified nurse (Matron) is in attendance during the school day, ensuring any health concerns are addressed on site and parents notified when necessary. We keep records of any allergies or medical conditions a girl may have. An inoculation programme is carried out following national guidelines.
Special needs
A Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator ensures that pupils across the ability range are able to learn in a way that meets their individual needs. We can arrange for girls who may require support to be assessed, in consultation with parents, and individual lessons can be timetabled.
Uniform
All girls in Years 7-11 are required to wear school uniform, which can be purchased through a local shop. Sales of second-hand uniform are organised by the Parents' Association. Sixth formers don't wear uniform but are expected to dress suitably and in accordance with our guidelines.
