Music as a Creative Force

‘Catherine Arlidge is not only one of our most inspiring, valued and unstinting musicians but also one of our strongest and most idealistic personalities.’ - Sir Simon Rattle

The Inspire Music series has lit up this term, celebrating the return of live music.  Every Thursday, pupils and their families meet after school to share the music, enjoying talks, workshops, and performances from both world-class musicians and our own student talent.

This term’s programme ends with an event that is literally inspiring: Catherine Arlidge MBE will deliver a talk that will cover music as inspiration, music as a creative force, music as a career and music as a supplement to a career, as well as the national landscape for youth music.

Catherine has received an MBE for music education. She is the Artistic and Educational Director of the National Children's Orchestras of Great Britain, and she has given acclaimed TED talks on music, education, creativity and their roles within society. She is a violinist with the CBSO, and presented their first ever Family Concert. She is a founder member of The Stringcredibles, and won the Royal Philarmonic Society and The Association of British Orchestras' Salamon Prize, for her work on numerous projects which connect young people with classical music.

This will be an inspiring talk for musicians and non-musicians alike and is not to be missed! All are welcome from the Foundation community. The talk will take place in the Auditorium of the Music School this Thursday 2 December 2021 from 4.15 p.m. Refreshments are available from 4 pm. in the Foyer.
