King’s High warmly welcomes overseas students from Year 9 into our community.
Joining at this stage allows students to immerse themselves fully in school life, benefit from our broad and balanced curriculum, and establish strong academic foundations ahead of GCSE study.
We understand that moving to a new country and education system is a significant step. For this reason, our admissions process is designed to ensure that each student is well prepared to thrive academically and personally. Prospective overseas applicants are assessed carefully, with consideration given to previous school reports, entrance assessments, and, where appropriate, interviews conducted online. We look not only for academic potential, but also for curiosity, resilience, and a willingness to contribute positively to school life.
From the moment they arrive, overseas students are fully integrated into the King’s High community as a whole and into our family-sized boarding environment. They benefit from small class sizes, close academic support, and attentive pastoral care. Tutors and subject teachers work closely with each student to ensure a smooth transition, offering guidance with subject choices and study skills as they prepare for GCSE courses in Years 10 and 11.
English language support is available where needed, enabling students to build confidence in both written and spoken communication. At the same time, we encourage overseas students to share their own cultures, perspectives, and experiences, enriching classroom discussion and broadening horizons for all.
Beyond the classroom, overseas students are encouraged to participate fully in the extensive co-curricular and enrichment opportunities that define a King’s High education. From academic societies and leadership roles to sport, music, drama, and community engagement, students quickly become active members of our vibrant school community.
