King’s High celebrates record GCSE results

Students at King’s High School, Warwick are celebrating a record set of GCSE results, with more than 35% of all grades awarded at the highest possible grade 9.

Of the 120 students in Year 11, 58% of all grades were awarded at grades 9–8 and 78% at grades 9–7. The year group has also achieved record value-added scores for the school, reflecting the exceptional progress students have made from Year 7 through to their GCSE examinations.

Results were particularly strong across a wide range of subjects. In English Language, 70% of grades were at 9–8, alongside 68% in English Literature and 60% in Drama. In Religious Studies, 81% of grades were at 9–8, while 90% of German students achieved grades 9–8. In Latin and German, 88% of grades were at 9–7.

There were also outstanding performances in Music, where 100% of grades were at 9–8, and Religious Studies with 96% at 9–7. In Mathematics, 51% of grades were at 9–8, while Biology saw 59% at 9–8 and French 93% at 9–7.

Students also celebrated their achievements in King’s High’s award-winning Future Ready Courses, innovative alternatives to traditional GCSEs which offer a broader range of assessment methods and develop skills for life beyond school. Students studying modules including entrepreneurship, climate change, sustainable engineering, social justice, data analysis, global perspectives, law and neuroscience achieved outstanding results through the Global Changemaker and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programmes.

Dr Stephen Burley, Head Master, said:

“Today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students and the impressive ambition, resilience, curiosity and sheer hard work they have shown. These results are exceptional, but what makes me most proud is the progress this year group has made throughout their time at King’s High. The record value-added scores are a particularly powerful measure of that journey.

“I hope that our students take enormous pride in what they have accomplished today and look forward with confidence and excitement to the opportunities that await them in the Sixth Form. I would also like to pay tribute to our outstanding staff, whose expertise, encouragement and commitment have played such an important part in these achievements.”

Dr Philip Seal, Deputy Head Academic, commented:

“These are truly outstanding results and a fantastic reflection of the determination and intellectual ambition of this year group. The breadth of achievement across our subjects is particularly pleasing, alongside the record progress made by students during their time at King’s High.

“Behind every grade is a story of effort, perseverance and support, and today we celebrate every student and their individual achievements. We are immensely proud of them and look forward to seeing them build on these successes as they embark on the next stage of their education.”

Richard Nicholson, Foundation Principal, added:

"It has been another year of exceptional GCSE outcomes for pupils across our Foundation schools.

Our purpose as a charity is to transform lives through the power of education, and enabling our pupils to achieve the very best they can in public examinations is a vital step in that journey.

As well as these huge successes, our pupils enjoy a vast array of opportunities which sit alongside their GCSE curricula, developing character, confidence, and skills - and having a huge amount of fun, too.

We look forward to seeing them thrive in their A Levels and giving a very warm welcome to all our new pupils joining our schools for Sixth Form.

Congratulations once again to the GCSE Class of 2026."
