KING’S HIGH SCHOOL CELEBRATES GREAT SUCCESS WITH THEIR STUDENTS

After a wonderful year of being physically back in the classroom, Sixth Formers at King’s High School, Warwick are celebrating exceptional results. Our students are delighted and rightly proud to have attained very strong results which are testament to the hard work and diligence they have displayed throughout their studies. 

Dr Burley, Head Master, said, ‘I could not be more proud of our Upper Sixth students, who have shown such fortitude and resilience in recent years and have worked incredibly hard for their final examinations. As the cohort whose GCSE exams were cancelled due to the pandemic, they have supported one another through national lockdowns and gone on to achieve very impressive results.’ 

There was particular success in a range of individual subject areas with every student in Art, Computer Science and DT achieving A* or A grades, and all students of Drama, English Language, German and Music achieving A*-B grades. In English Literature, 59% of students achieved an A* grade. 

Around 80% of our pupils were accepted on to their first-choice university. One student who achieved 3 A*s is now looking forward to reading Biochemistry at University College London; another student who achieved 3 A*s will read Modern Languages at Warwick University; and another pupil was awarded AAA and will study Dentistry at Bristol.  

Head of Sixth Form, Celia Tedd, commented, ‘I am incredibly proud of the achievements of all of our pupils who have approached the first public examinations in some time with their characteristic energy and ambition. It’s exciting to see such a range of destinations and to celebrate with them today.'

Warwick Schools Foundation Principal, Mr Richard Nicholson stated, “I am immensely proud of the achievements of all of our Foundation pupils today. Having drawn deeply on their resilience during what has been a difficult and unusual period in their education, they can now reflect on the exceptional way in which they have triumphed, a characteristic that they will carry with them in all of their future endeavours. However, they could not have achieved this without expert staff and the support of their families. It is truly a whole community celebration.”
